Education: Ph.D. Systematic Theology

I’m at APU because . . . they were the only place that would hire me, and I don’t plan to leave because I really like this school.

I believe . . . that one of the greatest tragedies (perhaps the greatest) of our world is that so many people seem to have lost their sense of awe and wonder. One thing I attempt to do in my teaching and writing is to open God’s world back up for people in a way that they can regain some sense of wonder and mystery. I also believe that the dodgers waited way too long before they finally traded Brett Tomko.

These things are important to me: to keep growing in my understanding of what it means that God is a gracious God, to recognize what is really important over versus what our culture values, to continually be amazed at my wife’s greatness and patience, to help my kids become wise adults, to enjoy my friendships and recognize that they are a true indicator of wealth, and to put my hands in dirt There’s something about being a Kansas farm boy that never dies.
