Barbara Strother, Ph.D. candidate, teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in international business at Azusa Pacific University’s School of Business and Management. She has published journal articles, book chapters, and magazine articles, and her popular book, Living Abroad in China, is now in its 3rd edition. She has presented at conferences in the U.S. and internationally on topics such as the impacts of study abroad programs, intercultural negotiation tactics, and other issues in international business and entrepreneurship, and is sought out for her travel and expatriate expertise in China. She has substantial overseas experience around the globe, including studying PhD international business courses in Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, and New Delhi, and she spends a significant amount of time in China each year. She has directed APU’s undergraduate and graduate business study abroad and internship programs in Asia since 2005, involving hundreds of students in cross-cultural proficiency programs for international business. She takes joy in giving students the vision for small businesses that they can start, especially social enterprises that can benefit less fortunate around the globe. Additionally, she is the founder of a small business in the vacation rental industry, receiving an award for having the most frequently booked property in the world, and serves as the President of her local lodging association and a speaker at industry events.
