The Illustrated Man - Christopher Slatoff

Posted by: Department of Art and Design
This guest show features works by Christopher Slatoff.
In 2007, Christopher attended a salon featuring the legendary sceince fiction writer Ray Bradbury. When Bradbury refused a monetary honorarium, Chris offered to create a portrait of the writer as a means of payment. Bradbury responded with a much grander vision. Thus began a five-year collaboration between the two and the beginning of a close friendship. Presented here is a glimpse into the process that led to the creation of an eight-foot monumental sculpture. Ray Bradbury died in 2012 just after the completion of this work- The Illustrated Man.
Curated by Prof. Clovis Blackwell and students Jenna Julien and Jordan Ruffin.
