Change that Sticks – Sustainable Strategies for Engaging Faculty Wisdom and Growing Student Learning
September 27, 2013 2:00-3:00 pm ET - free to all.
Presenters: Dr. Bonnie B. Mullinix, Jan S. Bishop & René Sawyer of Greenville Technical College.
This webinar will share insights from a five-year project involving a cross-disciplinary, department-wide revision of three programs and 9 courses, upgrading of instructional resources and expansion of student support. Along the way, a wide variety of strategies were utilized to ensure a comprehensive approach to creating an engaged learning experience for students built on faculty selected and data-confirmed best practices that resulted in student learning, success, persistence and retention. Building curricula, processes (team-based FLCs) and materials (Course Kits, Master Course Shells), a team-oriented culture, professional and scholarly development support, and more has helped create a faculty cohort able to sustain the impactful core initiatives beyond the five-year grant period. This presentation will highlight the strategies that have proven most effective in helping to create change that both sticks and grows.
