All Art and Design students are invited to engage with art conservation with Joe Fronek, LACMA's head of Painting Conservation.
Joe Fronek is the Head of Paintings Conservation at Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). He will be leading a workshop using paintings in the APU School of Theology by Flemish artist Frans Francken (1581-1642).
Joe will demonstrate and allow students to clean, observe using magnifying lenses and UV lighting, and guide students on other ways of "seeing" the paintings.
This workshop presents art restoration as a career option and shows how the restorer and the art historian work together when approaching the repair and/or restoration/cleaning of art.
All supplies and a free lunch will be provided!
