Be 1 of 20 students to join Dr. Gavin Jones, Professor of English at Stanford University, and faculty from the Department of English for a VIP Reception immediately prior to the James Hedges Distinguished Scholar Lecture on November 5th. Reception begins at 4:00 p.m. and the lecture, "Recuperating Steinback", follows at 5:00 p.m.

About Gavin Jones, Ph.D.:

Dr. Gavin Jones received his Ph.D. from Princeton University and is the author of Strange Talk: The Politics of Dialect Literature in Gilded Age America (University of California Press, 1999), American Hungers: The Problem of Poverty in U.S. Literature, 1840-1945 (Princeton University Press, 2007), and Failure and the American Writer: A Literary History (Cambridge University Press, 2014). He also has several published articles in journals such as American Literary History and African American Review.
