Deputy Chief Anthony StricklandDeputy Chief Strickland joined the Department of Campus Safety in October 1998 and is currently serving as the department's assistant director. Deputy Chief Strickland came to the university as a student athlete in 1993. He lettered in football as a quarterback and defensive back, and also served as an assistant football coach. Deputy Chief Strickland has completed the University Police Officer course. |
Sergeant
Guy GomezSergeant Gomez is currently assigned to the patrol division and also serves as a watch commander. He oversees the department’s Training and Patrol Program. Sergeant Gomez started his employment with APU in September 2006. Prior to his employment with APU, Sergeant Gomez served as a police officer for five years with a local police agency. Sergeant Gomez left law enforcement for a career in business working for the second largest retail company in the nation. He held the position of a manager/auditor assigned within a district to assist with the company’s strategy and goals to be number one. He has extensive training in leadership and management both in business and law enforcement. Sergeant Gomez plans to obtain a business degree during his tenure here at APU. He enjoys baseball, exercise, and trying new things. |

Liza AldereteSergeant Alderete is assigned to the Department of Campus Safety’s patrol division as a line supervisor. Prior to her hire in December 2004, Sergeant Alderete worked in hotel loss prevention. She enjoys playing softball/baseball with her husband, Robert, and his son, Willie, and spending time with her family. She looks forward to obtaining a degree here at APU and growing stronger in the Lord. |
Corporal Richard KnopfCorporal Knopf is currently assigned as a shift supervisor within the patrol division. Corporal Knopf began his employment with Campus Safety in 2000 as a student worker and has since held multiple positions within the department. Corporal Knopf is pursuing a Master of Divinity from APU’s C.P. Haggard Graduate School of Theology, hoping eventually to attain a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies and intending to teach at the university level, and/or in a local church or at his home church in Honolulu, Hawaii. Corporal Knopf is a recipient of the Life Saving Commendation. |

David BalesCorporal Bales began working for the Department of Campus Safety in January of 2005, and is assigned to the department’s patrol division. Corporal Bales first came to the university as an undergraduate student in August of 1999. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in December of 2003. In addition to being a full-time staff officer, Corporal Bales is currently a graduate student at APU pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. |

Christine CevallosCorporal Cevallos recently joined Campus Safety in April 12, 2006. Corporal Officer Cevallos has worked eleven years in law enforcement with the Pasadena School District, San Gabriel Police Department, and Monterey Park Police Department. She has been a Christian for twenty three years. She spends most of her time with her family and enjoys family activities like hiking, bicycling, jet skiing, kayaking, and camping. She also enjoys carpentry and gardening at her home. She loves animals and has four dogs of her own: a German Shepard, Queensland Healer, and two Old English Sheep Dogs. |
Corporal Cory ScottCorporal Scott began his career with APU in February 1996. After a brief time away from APU in 1998 to pursue a career with Ecolab, he recently came back to finish his B.A. and go on to attain his master’s degree. Prior to joining the staff at APU, Corporal Scott served with the San Bernardino Sheriffs Department for three years. He has completed the Sheriffs academy. Corporal Scott is married and has two beautiful daughters he hopes will graduate from APU as well. |
Communication Supervisor Bonnie FranckFranck is assigned to the patrol division in the Department of Campus Safety as a communication dispatcher supervisor. Franck graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a degree in Sociology. While a student at APU, she served for one year as a community service officer and two years as a cadet officer. She was then hired full time in September 2002. Franck enjoys reading, hiking, bike riding, and other outdoor activities. She looks forward to traveling and seeing the world. |

Officer Mark LopezSenior Officer Lopez joined the Department of Campus Safety in February 2006 and is currently assigned to the department's patrol division. Prior to his employment with Campus Safety, Senior Officer Lopez spent two years as an explorer for the Chino Police Department and San Dimas Sheriff’s Department. He enjoys playing basketball, reading, traveling, and is looking forward to earning a degree from APU in the near future. |
Officer Jarod BeheeOfficer Behee joined the Department of Campus Safety in December 2003 and is currently assigned to the department’s patrol division. Prior to his employment with Campus Safety, Officer Behee spent four and a half years in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of sergeant. Officer Behee is currently enlisted in the California National Guard. |

Andrew ShoemakerOfficer Andrew Shoemaker started his employment with Campus Safety in 2004 and joined the full-time staff in June of 2006. Officer Shoemaker is currently working on his B.M. in Tuba Performance at APU. While at APU, Officer Shoemaker has been involved with various performing groups such as the Wind Ensemble, University Choir and Orchestra, Marching Band (drill designer), Brass Quintet, and Drama Ministry (sound engineer). Prior to working at APU, Officer Shoemaker toured nationally with Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps for three years. Officer Shoemaker also serves as the music ministries leader at Glendora Friends Church. Officer Shoemaker feels privileged to serve APU students, faculty, and staff. |

Brian MonroeOfficer Monroe joined the Department of Campus Safety in September of 2006. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Voice and Jazz Guitar. Officer Monroe’s father is a pastor in Barstow, CA. Officer Monroe enjoys hiking, camping, reading, movies, and is an avid jazz and funk enthusiast. |

Eric LoofbourrowOfficer Loofbourrow began working for the Department of Campus Safety in late 2005 as a student worker, and became a staff officer in the department's patrol division in January of 2007. Officer Loofbourrow first came to APU as an undergraduate student in August of 2004, and in addition to being a full-time staff officer, he is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Information Services. In his spare time, he plays piano, ping-pong, and video games, and coaches tennis. |
Dispatcher Susanne GordonDispatcher Gordon started with the Department of Campus Safety in March 1995. She began her law enforcement career as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff in 1967 and retired in 1981. During this time, she worked at the Sybil Brand Institute for Women, Firestone Station, and Headquarters Burglary. Prior to this, Gordon served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-67. In 1967, she was honorably discharged as a communications yeoman third class. |
Office Manager Bonny LegindLegind is the office manager in the Department of Campus Safety. Legind began her secretarial career in June 1980 working in an attorney's office. She attended Mount San Antonio College and received an A.S. in Business in June 1980. She is married and has two daughters. |
