Community Crime Watch - Robbery

On 04/18/07 at approximately 10:00pm, a current APU student was walking on Hollyvale St., south of the Alosta Place Condos (1130 E. Alosta Ave.) when he was confronted by two unknown male subjects. One suspect ordered him to give him his wallet, in which the victim complied. The victim also had other personal property forcibly removed from him by the suspects. The victim advised that one of the suspects struck him twice on the side of the head with a closed fist, causing minor bruising.

The suspects are described as:

Male Hispanic, possibly juveniles (16-17);

One was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt

both were riding skateboards

It is recommended to all students to be cautious in and around campus, especially in your living area. Here are a few quick tips for personal safety:

• Report suspicious people to the Department of Campus Safety, (626) 815-3898.

• Avoid places where you are vulnerable and there are no exits.

• Do not hesitate to call the Department of Campus Safety or 911 when strangers confront you.

• At night, walk in groups of at least two people or call Campus Safety for an escort.

• Walk only on lighted sidewalks after dark.

• Report all criminal incidents to Campus Safety officers immediately.

• If you are the victim of or witness a crime on campus, please report it IMMEDIATELY.
