About CAPS

Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS) is an academic community dedicated to teaching, research, and service. Its purpose is to prepare leaders for both the profit and nonprofit organizational sectors, as well as exemplary elementary or K-12 special education school teachers for both private and public sectors. Above all, emphasis is placed on the development of excellent management skills, communication skills, and personal integrity.

Each of the six degree programs offer small classes, tailored to a student’s work or career interests. Students benefit from faculty whose priority is teaching and application. Each professor’s practical experience is firmly rooted in years of industry leadership and continues through active consulting.

Services

In addition to offering degree programs, CAPS provides their students with a one-stop-shop for admissions, student financial services, and the registrar. Students with engaging careers and busy lives can enroll for classes, arrange for financial aid, receive information about transferred classes, and arrange meetings and appointments all from within the CAPS office. Students are not required to visit more than one office, building, or campus.

History

Established in 1992, CAPS (formerly the Center for Accelerated Degree Programs) offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree completion programs, as well as the Master of Arts in Leadership and Organizational Studies. The faculty and administration of CAPS exemplify Christian values and demonstrate expertise in course content and academic preparation as well as experience in teaching adult learners. Their achievements are evidenced by memberships in academies of distinguished scholars and practitioners. The educational environment for graduate-level students incorporates a strong sense of community and a commitment to excellence.
