Thank you for your interest in our community-based programs! Please review the information below on how you and your child can participate in our programs.

Azusa Reads/Writes/Counts

For more detailed information about the program, please read the program description

  • Your child must be an elementary student (Kindergarten through 5th grade only).
  • This program is first come, first serve. Parents must sign-up their child(ren) for tutoring sessions one week in advance.
  • Tutoring is in English only.
  • Tutoring is offered Mondays (3-7 p.m.), Tuesdays and Wednesdays (3-6 p.m.), and Thursdays (3-5 p.m.). (Please note: Times and dates are subject to change.)

Sign-Up Process

  • On Monday of any given week when tutoring is in session, go to the Azusa City Library and pick up a “number card” (located on their front desk). Number cards are available starting at 1:30 p.m.
  • At 3 p.m., the lead tutor will begin calling out numbers in the library’s auditorium.
  • When your number is called, you may schedule up to three tutoring sessions (in reading, writing, or math) per child. These sessions are scheduled for the following week since sign-ups occur one week in advance.
  • You will receive an appointment card with the date and time of your scheduled tutoring appointments.
  • Your child must bring their writing or math homework for an Azusa Writes or Azusa Counts tutoring session.
  • If your child(ren) cannot make it to one of their scheduled tutoring sessions, please call Stacey Kim at (626) 815-6000, Ext. 2842.

Azusa Calculates

  • Tutoring is offered for one-hour sessions on Tuesdays or Wednesdays between 5–7 p.m. at the Azusa City Library.
  • Your child must be a middle school student in the Azusa Unified School District (Foothill Middle School, Center Middle School, or Slauson Middle School).
  • Your child must also be in an algebra class in order to receive tutoring from Azusa Calculates.
  • If your child meets the prior two conditions, please contact the Azusa Calculates teacher at your child’s respective middle school. The Azusa Calculates teacher will let you know whether or not there are openings for your child in the Azusa Calculates program.

Computer Lab Tutoring

  • Tutoring is targeted towards middle school students in any subject-area.
  • Tutoring is offered Monday– Friday, 2:30–5:30 p.m. at the Computer Lab Room in the North Recreation Center in Memorial Park. (Please note: Times and dates are subject to change.)
  • The parent/guardian or child may sign-up for a 45 minute tutoring session at the Computer Lab Room in the North Recreation Center. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Exercise Programs

  • Kids on the Move classes are offered for elementary boys and girls (kindergarten through fifth grade only).
  • Girls on the Move classes are offered for middle school girls only.
  • Classes are offered in five-week sessions (two sessions in the fall semester and three sessions in the spring semester*) in the North Recreation Center at Memorial Park
    *Please note: The last third week session is 4 weeks long.
  • Parents/guardians can sign up for classes at Memorial Park.
