Students consider the dynamics of spiritual renewal through an investigation of renewal movements among the people of God from the pre-exilic prophets in ancient Israel to contemporary movements in the Christian church in the 20^th century. The analysis draws on the perspectives of theology, psychology, and sociology, with a focus on the ways in which these movements enhance or inhibit character formation. Attention is given to the application of the dynamics of renewal to contemporary situations.
