This is the first of a two-semester, three-course
practice sequence wherein the basics of professional
generalist social work practice as it has developed in
response to changing human needs are presented. Included
are methods that may be used in direct practice with
individuals and families. Emphasis is on work with
diverse populations and the importance of evaluation in
practice. The systems perspective is used as an
