The Los Angeles-based art publication Artillery Mag: Killer Text on Art catches up with Professor Kent Anderson Butler and discusses his new exhibition, Embodied: A 10-Year Retrospective, which opens at the Kellogg University Gallery at Cal Poly Pomona in January 2012.
Titled: Embodied, the show is a selection of video, still documentation and photography that the artist uses to explore his own body through mental and spiritual phenomena such as pain, pleasure, struggle, redemption, and restoration. Asked about the meshing of old and newer themes in his work, Anderson Butler replies that, "If I had all the answers, I probably wouldn't be making much work. A lot of the work, I'm asking questions for myself."
