David Pagel: MFA Summer Lecture Series 2012

The third conversation for the Guest Lecture Series Summer 2012 is with critic David Pagel.
David is a Los Angeles-based art critic who writes regularly for the Los Angeles Times, ArtScene and is an editor for Bomb Magazine and Art Issues. Some of his recent reviews in the Los Angeles Times have covered contemporary artists such as Kristin Morgin, Juan Usle, and Gregory Crewdson. His curatorial work has included the exhibition and catalogue, Damaged Romanticism: A Mirror of Modern Emotion with Terrie Sultan; L.A. Now at the Las Vegas Art Museum; and interviewing seminal artists Michael Brewster, Tom Eatherton, Ed Moses, and John White for It Happened at Pomona: 1969-1973, part of the Getty Museum’s Pacific Standard Time.
David is the Chair of the Department of Art at Claremont Graduate University and is an adjunct curator at the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton, NY. He earned degress in modern thought and literature from Stanford University and art history from Harvard University.
