New Special Topics Courses for Fall '13

The Department of Art & Design is pleased to announce the offering of four new Special Topics in Art courses for this Fall 2013 semester.

ART 495.01 Special Topics in Art: Architectural Ceramics Mural

This unique, new studio course is being offered on the design and hands-on implementation of Architectural Ceramics Murals. Leave a legacy by completing a permanently installed ceramics mural on the West Campus. In this studio course, students will design, create, fire, paint and install a 4'x16' architectural ceramics mural. The first 16' of the mural is now being finished and will be installed in March. ART 495.02 Special Topics in Art: Anatomy and Expression

Study and create from anatomy in different forms to more fully understand the depth and integrity that such expertise has on abstract and figurative representation in all media, particularly painting and drawing. Taught by Prof. Nathan Huff. For questions, please contact him at nhuff [at] apu.edu.

ART 495.03 Special Topics in Art: Time-Based Media

Explore the practice of art and its relationship to Time. Topics covered include video, film, performance art, sound art, and stop-motion animation as well as the effect of time on traditional media such as drawing, painting, and sculpture. ART 495.04 Special Topics in Art: Digital Printing

This class is geared towards students interested in Graphic Design, Photography and Animation. Learn how to create impactful prints from digital imagery and develop color-accurate workflows for printing from any device in the graphics industry. Become savvy with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Lightroom, Painter X and Anime Studio Pro.
