Pre-Allied Health and Pharmacy Programs

APU offers several majors to address the needs of students who seek a pre-allied health or pharmacy program to prepare for research, teaching, physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sports medicine, chiropractic medicine, pharmaceutical sales, and other health-care-related fields.

The applied health, biology, and biochemistry majors provide:

The applied health major within the Department of Biology and Chemistry contains most requirements for admission to graduate programs in the health professions (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sports medicine, and chiropractic medicine). The physical therapy track within this major is also specifically designed to address the admission requirements for entry into a master's or doctoral physical therapy program. The biology or biochemistry major addresses the requirements for entry into a pharmacy program.

What About Graduate School Opportunities?

Based on a current survey of master’s programs (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sports medicine, and chiropractic medicine), the pre-allied health and pharmacy programs within the Department of Biology and Chemistry fulfills most requirements for admission to graduate programs.

This program is also specifically designed to address the admission requirements for entry into graduate physical therapy programs, like APU’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
