About the Program

Why This Major Is Relevant

Over the next several decades, our society will experience unprecedented changes and challenges, including the political and economic rise of China, an aging population, climate change, and an increasing national deficit. Hard economic times, corporate scandals, and a historic presidency underscore the fact that we are living in a changing world. As these changes occur, the news media plays a critical role in informing the public and searching out the truth. Christian journalists are needed to ensure unbiased reporting about these and other issues and events that are relevant to a Christian worldview. APU’s journalism majors are uniquely prepared to meet these challenges and provide a voice for truth in the midst of a morally ambiguous world.

Gain In-depth Learning Experiences

APU’s proximity to Hollywood and downtown LA gives rise to many un-matched internship opportunities. Journalism majors secure internships at top-notch companies such as the Walt Disney Co., Windancer Productions, DIC Entertainment, Nordstrom, Warner Bros., K-EARTH 101 FM, NBC, ESPN, Capitol Records, Universal Music, KFI-AM, The Fish, KKLA, and the Shiloah Foundation, among others. Internships ensure that journalism majors graduate with contacts in their chosen field, solid evidence of their skills, and substantial experience on their résumés.
