Emily Griesinger, Ph.D., is a professor of English at Azusa Pacific University, where she teaches courses in British literature, religion and literature, children’s literature, and autobiography and memoir. Her article on Toni Morrison’s Beloved in Christianity and Literature received the 2003 Lionel Basney Award. A second article, “Your Daughters Shall Prophesy: The Charismatic Spirituality of Hildegard of Bingen,” published in Christian Scholar’s Review in 2000 won the Charles J. Miller Christian Scholar’s Award. She has also published in Books and Culture and Women’s Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal. She has recently co-edited a collection of essays entitled The Gift of Story: Narrating Hope in a Postmodern World (Baylor U Press, 2006) and is currently working on a book on faith and feminism in Charlotte Bronte, George Eliot, and Virginia Woolf.
