Steven J. Wentland, Ed.D.O.L., is an associate professor at APU. He is currently the cofounder and president of America's Battle of the Books, the largest reading-incentive battle of the books program in America. The program is recognized nationally and reaches to many international schools. He has authored two teacher-educational textbooks, the most recent is The Christian Teacher: Ethical, Insightful and Knowledgeable. In addition, he is the creator of Foundations of Freedom - a competition-style program in grades K-12 that allows students to discover, legally and objectively in a public school setting, the significance religion has played in American History. He hopes this program will be the largest of its kind in America within a few years. He also is a national and international presenter on ‘teaching about religion’. He is presently completing his new book, Wisdom: What it is and what it ain’t! , as well as, a radio inspirational commentary for teachers, But God...what about me? He recently implemented a new service-learning program called S.C.H.O.L.A.R.S., which allows university students to help teachers teach core curriculum standards in the classroom. He is also a board member on two national non-profit organizations and in his spare time enjoys his 21-acre ranch in the San Emigdio Mountains.
