Warren Koch, Ph.D., is an associate professor at APU and teaches both production and theory courses. After completing a dissertation in the field of media ethics in the mid-90s, Koch continues to research and present papers on the spiritual potentials of media, narrative aesthetic philosophies, and documentary ethics at national conventions, including the National Communication Association and the Broadcast Educator Association (BEA). Koch serves as the National Chair of BEA’s Festival of Media Art’s Student Video Competition.

Koch’s primary production experience comes from creating corporate marketing and training videos. One of his largest projects was a documentary on fisheries habitat created for the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. This experience led him to create documentary projects for missions and international development organizations. Koch is currently participating in preproduction work for a film project on human trafficking in Southeast Asia, and is working on a dramatic script in final development stages about some college student’s efforts to rescue sex-slaves in Southern California. Koch serves as a board member of an international media ministry, Sword Productions, which has trained faith-based media teams in Mongolia and Cambodia and is currently training in Vietnam.
