Scholarships and Auditions

Scholarships

Thank you for considering the Department of Theater, Film, and Television in your scholastic career!

A limited number of scholarships are awarded to students showing promise in acting, musical theater, stage craft, cinematic arts, screenwriting, or critical analysis of film. It is our hope that these $1,000 scholarships express our enthusiasm for having you study with us.

Acting and Musical Theater Performance Scholarship Requirements

APU theater arts performance scholarship recipients are required to major or minor in theater arts and are required to be available for any show each semester. Students not cast in a show in a given semester will instead be required to complete a significant technical assignment.

To apply, prospective students must submit a résumé, photo, and DVD audition to be considered for a scholarship.

Your DVD should contain a short introduction of you speaking directly into the camera and then performing two of the following:

  1. A one and a half minute classical monologue
  2. A one and a half minute contemporary monologue
  3. A one and a half minute musical theater selection

Applications are due Monday, February 3, 2009. Any submissions received after February 3 will be considered as remaining funds permit. Submissions will not be returned to applicants.

If you have any questions, please contact Bart McHenry, chair of the Department of Theater, Film, and Television, at bmchenry@apu.edu.
