Admission and Auditions
Auditions are required to be admitted to the BFA: Acting for the Stage and Screen program, for scholarships, and for various roles in our theater and film productions. B.A. and BFA theater majors are required to audition every semester for shows.
Please bring a headshot, a résumé, and a completed Audition Form (PDF) to your audition, and be sure to arrive early!

Audition Requirements
For BFA Candidates
Faculty are looking for students who display potential for a professional acting career in Stage and Screen. To audition, please prepare:
- Two contrasting monologues (no longer than 90-seconds)
- 16-bar song (accompanist provided) (If you are not a singer, we want to see your creativity and sense of fun. You can sing acapella, i.e. "Happy Birthday.")
- Please bring a picture and resume
If you cannot attend campus auditions on the dates listed below, you can submit a YouTube link of the above requirements, plus a résumé and headshot to jlincoln@apu.edu.
For B.A./BFA Theater Majors (Show Auditions)
- One-minute monologue
- 16-bars of a musical theater selection
For Non-Theater Majors (Show Auditions)
Choose one of the following:
- Two contrasting one-minute monologues
- Two 16-bar musical theater selections
- One monologue and one song

Spring 2013 Shows
Much Ado About Nothing
One of the most popular and charming of Shakespeare’s comedies, Much Ado About Nothing features the original battle of the sexes between Benedick, an arrogant and confirmed bachelor, and Beatrice, his favorite sparring partner. While Beatrice and Benedick hide their infatuation beneath witty barbs, young love blossoms as Hero and Claudio race to the altar. When the wicked Don John conspires to break up the wedding, will false accusations and misunderstandings prevent the young couple’s happy ending?
One Acts
The One Acts is a collaboration of student writers, directors, designers, technicians, and actors. All of the plays are chosen, and in some cases written, by the students themselves. The One Acts gives students the opportunity to present new and established works in a collaborative environment of their peers in order to showcase the culmination of all they have learned.
Hello, Dolly!
“And what do you do for a living, Mrs. Levi?” asks Ambrose Kemper in the first scene of this delightful musical comedy. “Some people paint, some sew...I meddle,” replies Dolly. The story takes place when the irrepressible matchmaker Dolly Gallagher Levi is hired to arrange a marriage for the miserly half-millionaire, Horace Vandergelder, and she finds him the perfect mate—herself! But first she must win the heart of her unsuspecting “husband to be” before he gets hitched to somebody else. Join Dolly on a whirlwind race around New York at the turn of the 20th century, following the adventures of America's most beloved matchmaker!
