Message from the Executive Director

Employment specialists now predict that today’s college student may face seven to nine career changes. The crucial question is, "How will my education prepare me for a changing marketplace?" Employers are seeking persons of integrity with good thinking, writing and speaking skills. Most APU students also desire to serve Christ, the Church, and the world, but may be unsure how to do so in their careers.

In 2002, APU received a grant from Lilly Endowment, Inc., to establish Vocation as Ministry/Ministry as Vocation - an initiative aimed at helping the APU community consider how persons live out their calling from God to serve both the Church and society. Beginning in Fall 2005, the Office of Christian Leadership and Vocation will advance that initiative through GPS @ APU: Growing for Purposeful Service.

I firmly believe that God calls all Christians to service: service that may occur through a career in pastoral leadership or as a professional in medicine, law, education, business, or the arts. You can serve Christ in a variety of ways through any number of majors. One could almost say, "The sky's the limit!" As executive director, it is my goal to facilitate the exploration of these opportunities through various programs that will help develop mature and religiously committed leaders for the 21st century.
