Omega Project

Leader: Katrina Golden

Omega Week activities for seniors began as a joint effort of three APU offices: Career Services, Alumni Relations, and Communiversity. The purpose of this project is to assist seniors in making the transition from the life of a college student into the wider responsibilities of the post-baccalaureate world, whether that be career, graduate school, or other challenges. Omega Week is filled with career-related activities such as etiquette dinners, workshops on résumé preparation, and employment fairs, as well as other activities planned in order to establish connections with Alumni Relations.

In 2005-06, Omega Week is expanding to become the Omega Project as part of GPS @ APU: Growing for Purposeful Service. Thanks to funding from Lilly Endowment, Inc., the Offices of Student Success, Alumni Relations, and Career Services will collaborate to plan monthly Omega Project activities for seniors. Speakers and workshops on such topics as getting into graduate school, developing a realistic financial plan for life after college, maintaining spiritual vigor when there’s no requirement to attend chapel, reviewing one’s strengths with an eye to the future, strategizing job searches, etc., are on the drawing board to be included with previous activities. In short, the Omega Project provides APU seniors with additional opportunities to consider how they will invest their lives in service to Christ, the Church, and the world.
