A native of Chicago, Dr. Clousing completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI and his Master of Arts at California State University Long Beach. He is presently completing DMA studies at Claremont Graduate University.

Dr. Clousing’s teaching experience extends from junior high, through high school, from community colleges to local universities. He has served on the faculties of Biola University, University of Southern California, Cypress, Fullerton and Cerritos Community Colleges as an Adjunct Professor. In addition, he has served on various church staffs in Southern California as minister of music, worship, and drama. His present teaching assignment at APU includes Director of the Men’s Chorale, teaching Applied Voice, recruitment, and career development.

As a singer, his career has included oratorio, grand opera, and musical theater. He has appeared as soloist, with the Pacific Chorale, Camerata Singers of Long Beach, Long Beach Grand Opera, Fullerton Civic Light Opera, San Diego Civic Light Opera, and in the first national touring company of the Broadway musical “Evita”. As an actor besides musical theatre, he has appeared on a variety of television shows, national commercials and specials on Lifetime and PBS.

Students describe as a caring motivator who encourages participation with an expectation of excellence. Colleagues find him to be a sensitive manager who is passionately committed to developing an environment for leaning.

In 2012 Dr. Clousing was selected to receive a prestigious award by the President’s Council. He was awarded the Chase Sawtell Inspirational Faculty Award. The recipient shall model significant faculty involvement in the lives of students; shall have a strong Christian influence in the lives of students, peers, alumni, and administrative staff; and shall be seen as living a life of service to others, affirming the worth of each person as a unique individual created by God
