Tom Boyd is one of the most heard oboists today. Boyd has been a featured oboist in more than 1,400 motion picture soundtracks including Titanic, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Forrest Gump, Batman, Shawshank Redemption, Water for Elephants, Beauty and the Beast, Castaway, Prince of Tides, The Bucket List, Schindler’s List, and Charlie Wilson’s War. He has performed on the Oscars, Grammys, and Latin Grammys; appeared on The Tonight Show with Neil Diamond; and has polished solos captured inside hundreds of recording sessions for various artists such as Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler, and Natalie Cole. A native of Pasadena, California, Boyd attended The Juilliard School of Music and at the age of 22 won the First Oboe position in the Honolulu Symphony. After 10 years in Hawaii, Boyd came back to break into the film industry. Soon after, he was heard in the hit movies Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Right Stuff, and John Williams’ The River. He travels all over the world giving master classes and recitals, and created the group The Hollywood Soloists.
