Tom Hynes is a professional guitarist, composer, clinician, and educator. His freelance credits include Bob Hope, The Fifth Dimension, Frederica Von Stade, Liza Minelli, Neil Sedaka, Bobby Vinton and the Pacific, and the Santa Barbara and Bakersfield Symphony orchestras. His studio credits include music for the films Bright Angel and Rapid Fire, composed by Christopher Young. Jazz credits include a 1996 Jazz Ambassadors State Department tour of Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Uganda, and Eritrea; the Grammy-nominated Kim Richmond Concert Jazz Orchestra CD Refractions; his own jazz recordings The Sun Shop (Chase Music Group); and the self-produced Tom Hynes and Marshall Hawkins: Live at the Fret House. Composition credits include music for short films commissioned by the Smithsonian Institute; Light Screens: Music for the Leaded Glass of Frank Lloyd Wright, commissioned by the Orange County Museum of Art/Philharmonic Society of Orange County; and numerous large jazz ensemble compositions commissioned by colleges, high schools, and middle schools in California. Tom has served an adjudicator, clinician, and guest artist in California, Arizona, and Alaska. He also serves on the faculties of the Idyllwild Arts Academy and Northwoods Jazz Camps.
