Thomas Philips, originally from Levittown, New York, has been teaching music for the past 21 years in Southern California. Having received a bachelor’s degree in music education from California State University, Fullerton in 1989, he has taught band, jazz band, marching band, and orchestra at Norwalk High School and Nogales High School.

For the past 11 years, Philips has been at Mayfair High School in Lakewood, where his music program has tripled in size and received numerous awards for its musical and marching excellence. Philips also directs the Norwalk All-City Youth Band, serving students from the Norwalk and Santa Fe Springs area.

He enjoys singing in his church choir with his wife and assisting with its music program.
