Warren Koch, Ph.D., an associate professor at APU teaches both production and theory courses in film and television. After completing a dissertation in the field of media ethics in the mid-90s, Koch continues to research and present papers on the spiritual potentials of media, cross-cultural, and documentary ethics at national conventions, including the National Communication Association. Koch serves as the National Chair of Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Art’s with nearly one thousand submissions from one hundred forty schools. Koch is currently finishing a documentary on Native American “Jesus followers” who would rather not be identified as “Christians.”

Koch’s primary production experience comes from creating corporate marketing and training videos. One of his largest projects was a documentary on fisheries habitat created for the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. This experience launched him into a moonlighting career of producing promotional videos for missions and international development organizations. Often he involves students in these international projects, having led APU teams to Tanzania, Cambodia and Czech Republic. Koch serves on the board of Sword Productions, an international media ministry from Manila, which trains faith-based media teams in S.E. Asia. Plans are to take an APU student team to make a “behind-the-scenes” documentary about this ministry during their December 2012 feature film shoot about junior league soccer (football) in Nepal.
