FAQ on Crestview Acquisition March 21, 2007 Last Updated: July 17, 2007
In November 2006, the owners of Crestview Apartments approached Azusa Pacific University and multiple groups regarding the sale of the 320-unit complex located on the northwest corner of Alosta and Citrus avenues. The university has purchased this complex and escrow closed July 17. This acquisition helps alleviate university housing and parking challenges. Long term, it allows the university to be intentional about building community.
The following information will be updated as details become available. Students, faculty and staff with questions may check back at this site, watch for email updates, or contact the Office of Asset Management.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What will happen to current Crestview residents next year?
A: Based on current information, the immediate impact to existing student residents is minimal. Long term, it allows the university to be intentional about building community, from student housing and programming to scholars-in-residence. We are in the process of developing transitional plans for the total use of Crestview as part of the APU community. APU undergraduate students who currently reside at Crestview should see little change in their housing experience, and continue to benefit from the Community Resource Team. APU graduate students may also choose to live in Crestview and should contact Heather Petridis at (626) 815-4554.
Q: How does this impact current community residents (non-APU students)?
A: We understand the significant impact this has on our neighbors, and the university is working on a plan to update all Crestview residents about this process as details become available. For traditional Crestview residents’ convenience, you may email any questions to realestate@apu.edu. For bond unit tenants that have not made other arrangements, we will work with you to make a smooth transition, either this summer as requested or over the course of the next year.
Q: What about graduate and married students?
A: This university-owned property allows APU for the first time in many years to offer a convenient apartment-style living option to graduate and married students, perhaps in Crestview or other university holdings. We are exploring these opportunities. For additional information, graduate students may contact Heather Petridis at (626) 815-4554.
Q: Will I be held to the student standards of conduct if I live in Crestview in 2007-08?
A: All APU students are required to uphold the student standards of conduct. These behavioral expectations impact students wherever they choose to live, including campus and non-campus housing.
Q: Can I renew my existing lease, and if so, where do I go?
A: Yes, current APU residents are encouraged to renew their existing leases. You will continue to go to the Crestview management office (by the pool) for any business (renewal of your lease, facility issues, etc.) related to your apartment.
Q: How do I find out about apartment availability?
A: APU students may go to www.apu.edu/asset/properties/crestviewform or visit the Crestview management office.
Q: Does this purchase impact our tuition?
A: Tuition decisions are not based on the potential of property acquisitions, including Crestview. The tuition increase for 2007-08 has already been announced and will not change. In regard to housing cost, the university is taking strides to maintain affordability in Crestview.
