Nonverbal Communication

This course introduces students to nonverbal communication by examining research, practice, and principles underlying nonverbal behavior, The course focuses on several components of nonverbal communication including touch, proximity, vocal quality, eye contact, facial expression, personal appearance, gesturing, and gender and culture differences in nonverbal behavior. Application of the theories of nonverbal communication is made to workplace, social, and family settings. Prerequisites: junior or senior standing and COMM 303
