Leading Across World Cultures

In a global society that incorporates varied cultural perspectives, local and global leaders need the knowledge and skills that promote cultural aware- ness, sensitivity, and effectiveness. While maintaining their national identity, leaders in the 21st century must also acquire intercultural competencies and knowledge of how leadership plays out in various cosmopolitan settings. This course introduces theories of ethno-leadership and models for leading across cultures. Students learn to discern the values that underlie ethnic, tribal, and community behaviors—a crucial task for effective leadership in diverse contexts.
