This advanced doctoral-level seminar on qualitative methodology will focus on ways of gaining data that impact how scholars present data. Building upon prior breadth of knowledge regarding post-positive research paradigms and qualitative traditions from HED 742, students in this course will develop depth of knowledge about qualitative research design, and identifying a methodological approach that is in line with a particular research tradition. It focuses on fostering deeper knowledge about methodology. To this end, the course will focus on how methodology links method with the philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of research. We will also focus on data collection, hermeneutics, analysis, and representation.
