Clinical Experiences in Teaching Strategies (7–12)
Units: 3
Strategies for the secondary teacher introduced in this
class include: lesson planning, multiple models of
instruction, classroom and time management practice, and
integration of multiple intelligences research.
Cooperative learning theory and practices commonly used
in secondary schools are explored as a primary model of
instruction. Students investigate and respond to current
popular media portrayals of teachers and teaching
methods in theater, films, television, and/or the
popular press, with an intent to understand the
stereotypes and myths that surround the role of a
teacher. Students have opportunities to plan
instructional experiences, deliver instructions, and
reflect upon the theory-to-practice, fantasy-to-reality
experience of becoming a teacher.Prerequisite:
Admission to Single-Subject Credential program;
