Nursing Care of Adults and Elderly

Lecture, 3 hours; Practicum, 9 hours
This course involves application of biological, psychosocial, and spiritual concepts to adult and elderly patients experiencing the stress of an acute or chronic alteration in physical health. Specific concepts of gerontology and development are discussed related to the medical-surgical setting. Nursing process is utilized to provide care to one or two clients within the health care delivery system of an acute hospital, skilled nursing facility, or transitional care unit, and extending to the community.
