Foundations of Professional Nursing (6)

Lecture, 9 hours; Practicum, 6 hours

This course focuses on the nursing process and introductory concepts crucial to professional nursing care, including nursing processes, interviewing, wellness, health promotion, and illness prevention. The clinical practicum includes application of concepts and acquisition of nursing skills needed to provide health care to the healthy elderly and hospitalized adults with immobility problems. Prerequisites: BIOL 250, CHEM 111; CHEM 114; and PNRS 100 (or corequisite); additional prerequisites for three-year accelerated program: BIOL 251, CHEM 112 (or corequisite), UNRS 113, and acceptance into the three-year nursing program; corequisites for four-year generic track: BIOL 251, CHEM 112, and UNRS 113
