Matthew Visser

Matthew Visser, 2002 recipient of the NASPA Graduate Student Rising Star Award, gained valuable experience during his college career serving as youth leader, residence assistant, and graduate assistant at both Calvin College and Azusa Pacific University, mentoring students in the development of volunteer programs, and emphasizing leadership and professional development through individual and group meetings and training sessions, and providing personal accountability. He demonstrates his interpersonal skills daily as APU’s assistant director in the Office of Ministry and Service. In this capacity, he co-designed and implemented City Links, a day of service for 1,100 new students at Azusa Pacific. Visser organizes and administers office budget and allocation of funds for student ministries, and supervises staff and the daily functioning of the office.

Visser earned his Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and his Master of Education in College Student Affairs, now College Counseling and Student Development, from Azusa Pacific University.
