Computer Requirements

  • A Mac or PC desktop or laptop computer that meets the minimum requirements (Contact the program director for specifications.)

  • Internet Service Provider and server space
  • Email account

Other equipment, such as a digital camera, Web cam, and CD burner may be needed with certain courses and student-selected projects.

Software Requirements

  • Current operating system – Mac: OS X; PC: Windows XP or Vista
  • Latest version of Internet Explorer, Safari, or Firefox
  • The following software packages:
    • Microsoft Office (latest version)
    • Adobe Acrobat Professional (full version)

Additional software will be specified in individual courses.

  • Students may not enroll in more than six units per nine-week term.

Students can finish the program in 15 months.

How long are the terms?
Each term is nine weeks long except for summer, which lasts just six weeks.

How many transfer units are accepted?
Up to six units may be transferred.

Is a thesis required?
No. However, in the last class, EDTC 526, a growth assessment, comprehensive project, and virtual presentation are mandatory to meet the requirements for the degree.

How high is the demand for this degree and occupation in the marketplace?
Nearly all districts are seeking educators with expertise in technology. There is also a growing need for online instructors in the growing field of e-learning.
