Prerequisite
- Candidates with a master’s degree that did not include coursework equivalent to EDL 582 (Cornerstones of Educational Leadership) may be required to take that course.
Admission Requirements – Domestic Applicants
The university graduate and program admission requirements below must be met before an application is considered complete.
International students have a separate application procedure that precedes the standard admission process. Note: For the Educational Leadership, M.A. (online) program, international students who have graduated from a college or university where English was not the principal language must provide evidence of a minimum TOEFL score of 550. Applicants must possess:
- A bachelor’s degree
A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. - A minimum 3.0 GPA
A minimum grade-point baccalaureate or master’s grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. (Provisional admittance may be granted to individuals who do not meet this criterion if competency can be shown.)
Applicants must submit:

A typewritten letter to the dean describing educational goals as well as short- and long-term professional goals. - A résumé or statement of experience (Download PDF)
verifying with supervisor signatures at least three years of full-time service under a "basic" credential (i.e., Teaching, Pupil Personnel Services, Library, School Nurse, etc.) - Three letters of recommendation (Download PDF)
Submitted by principals or district administrators who have current knowledge of the applicant’s academic ability and potential for service in school administration. - Official transcripts

What to Expect
After all admission materials have been received by the Graduate Center, the faculty or department chair reviews the applicant’s file. The student is notified in writing of the admission decision.
