Barbara J. Flory, Ed.D., serves as the Multiple-Subject Faculty and Site Coordinator for Multiple- and Single-Subject Credential Programs at the High Desert Regional Center. Prior to joining the Department of Teacher Education in February 2010, Barb had spent 38 years in public school education in Indiana as an elementary and gifted and talented education teacher, an elementary principal, a district curriculum coordinator, and a superintendent of schools. She had also taught part-time for five years as an adjunct faculty for Indiana Wesleyan University in their Masters in Education program.
Throughout her public school career and especially as an administrator, she had a consistent focus on curriculum development and improvement of instruction. She planned and delivered professional development and training of teachers in the backward design model of curriculum development (Understanding by Design), curriculum mapping, power standards, assessments, differentiated instruction, Response to Intervention, the 3-Tier framework, and mathematics intervention.
