Barbara J. Flory, Ed.D., is the faculty and site coordinator for multiple and single subject credential programs at the High Desert Regional Center. Prior to joining the Department of Teacher Education in February 2010, Flory spent 38 years in public school education in Indiana as an elementary and gifted and talented education teacher, elementary principal, district curriculum coordinator, and superintendent of schools. She also was an adjunct faculty member in Indiana Wesleyan University’s master of education program for five years. Throughout her public school career, and especially as an administrator, Flory had a consistent focus on curriculum development and improvement of instruction. She planned and delivered professional development and training of teachers in the backward design model of curriculum development (Understanding by Design), curriculum mapping, power standards, assessments, differentiated instruction, response to intervention, the three-tier framework, and mathematics intervention.
