Hae-Seong Park, Ph.D., teaches in the Department of Doctoral Studies in Education in the School of Education. He started his career as a teacher in a prestigious high school in Seoul for three years. Before he moved to America, Park served as a religious educator in the Korean Army at the rank of captain. He continued his professional career in the Louisiana State Department of Education as a psychometrician for three years. As a quantitative researcher in the U.S., he has eight years experience teaching research methodology at a large public university. During this time, he also supervised and mentored doctoral program students for their dissertations, from tracks such as educational administration, curriculum and instruction, special education, urban studies, counseling, educational foundations, and physical education. Park’s primary research interest focuses on the impact of religion on substance use, interpersonal relationships, and the academic performance of students within the context of the mediating factors in family and school environments. Additional research interests include home language of limited English proficient students, parenting practices, and cultural and ethnic diversity in educational settings.
