John David Landers is an assistant professor, a single-subject site coordinator, and a K-12 university mentor at Azusa Pacific University. His expertise stems from 15 years of K-12 classroom and management experience. Landers has also developed two teaching American history grants for staff development in American history for K-12 teachers. His current interests revolve around training teachers in K-12 schools to become better prepared to teach history as a separate subject matter. He is also interested in building networks between historians, master classroom teachers, universities, and museums.

Landers has been involved with the National Council for History Education in staff development training sessions across the country. He has also served as a consultant for local school districts, designing staff development and introducing National History Day as a way to engage students in the study of history.
