Though James Kantiok’s, interests span many areas, his primary focus is on research in conflict resolution, especially in the area of religious tolerance, poverty and ethnic conflicts. His teaching models include the use of technological and multicultural approaches to understanding human behavior. Kantiok is also interested in how the school curriculum could be used as a tool to enhance a better understanding of the society, as well as the world as a global village. His research spans diversity in education, factors that exacerbate religious conflicts, and how education could be used as a tool for promoting peace. Kantiok has conducted a funded research for the PEW Foundation on creating religious understanding in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. He is currently conducting research on School Shootings in America and how an understanding of the factors causing this sort of violence could be used to design a peace education program. He is writing two books, one on religion and politics and the second on Africa’s failing states. Kantiok served on many government boards in Nigeria concerned with Muslim-Christian conflicts. He is also a member of the America Academy of Religion. He is the President and Founder of BEGE Ministries International, a nonprofit organization that works to promote Muslim-Christian understanding in the African continent as well as provide humanitarian services to the poor in Africa.
