James Kantiok, Ph.D.

Profile
Though James Kantiok’s, Ph.D., interests span many areas, his primary focus is on research in conflict resolution, especially in the area of religious tolerance. His teaching models include the use of technological and multicultural approaches and understanding human behavior. Kantiok is also interested in how school curriculum could be used as a tool to enhance a better understanding of the society, as well as the world as a global village. His research spans diversity in education, factors that exacerbate religious conflicts, and how education could be used as a tool for promoting peace. Kantiok has conducted a funded research for the PEW Foundation on creating religious understanding in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. He is currently conducting research on the crises of higher education in Nigeria and is writing a book on religion and politics. Kantiok served on many government boards in Nigeria concerned with Muslim-Christian conflicts. He is also a member of the America Academy of Religion.
