Susan Warren’s, Ph.D., fundamental interest is in promoting excellence in education for all students in the K-12 public schools. She began this work as a public school teacher and principal for 22 years at the elementary and middle school levels in three Southern California school districts. Susan also worked in private schools as an administrator before working in higher education. At the university level, she has developed and administered master of arts programs for educators, as well as served as a faculty member. Her career also includes work as a staff developer for the state in science, training school administrators through the San Bernardino County School Leadership Academy (CSLA), and working with several schools throughout Southern California as a state and program evaluator. In addition to her doctorate, Warren holds a Ryan Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development Certificate (CL.A.D.), and a Professional Administrative Services Credential. Her areas of research include: teacher expectations and efficacy; diversity, equity, and social justice; school reform; family and community involvement; and simultaneous dual language acquisition. Warren’s curricular areas of strength are math, science, and health. Her work has primarily focused on underserved urban schools where she has taught, served as an administrator, evaluated programs, and conducted research.
