Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I need to be online for the online program?
You must be online sufficiently throughout each week to participate in threaded discussions and to complete all assignments by their designated deadlines. However, there is no prescribed amount of time or designated time that you will be required to be online because assignments and their deadlines will vary throughout each nine-week course.

Will I have to complete any part of my Online Educational Technology program at an APU campus location?
No. You can complete your educational technology degree entirely online. No campus visits or meetings are required.

How do I get started?
Online programs may include requirements, procedures, and policies unique to the university's more traditional programs. For more information on how to get started in an APU online program, please contact one of our recruitment counselors at (800) 825-5278 or at

How long is a semester?
The School of Education graduate programs run on nine-week terms.

How many units do I take each term?
To be classified as a full-time graduate student, one must be enrolled in at least nine units during each of the two nine-week terms (e.g., Fall I and Fall II or Spring I and Spring II). Students can take one to two classes per term.

Is there an application deadline?
Due to the high demand of this degree and limited space, the sooner your application is complete, the higher your chance of being admitted into a cadre.

How large is the cohort size?
Each cohort will have a learning community of 15 students.

When can I start the program?
Contact the program director to find out when the next cohort is available.
