Biography

Clinical background: Family Health Nurse Practitioner with clinical focus in musculoskeletal health of all ages. Pioneered and developed the role of Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner in multiple orthopedic sub-specialties and practice settings including Emergency Room, Outpatient Clinic and hospital at Kaiser Permanente, San Diego. Current PhD research interest in the area of developing APRN Fellowships in Orthopedics. Community clinic experience in developing Diabetes and Childhood Obesity Management programs.
Academic Experience: Clinical oversight of students in;Primary Care of Adults, Women's Health and Pediatric patients and Advanced Health Assessment.
Responsible for lecture content in Pathophysiology, Advanced Health Assessment, APRN Role Development and Psychiatric Mental Health Care of the Older Adult with Chronic Illnesses. Responsible for lecture component in Care of the Childbearing Family.
Publications include a chapter on Musculoskeletal Health Assessment in the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses Core Curriculum 7th ed and a journal article on Achilles Tendon Rupture in Advanced Emergency Nursing. National invited podium speaker for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Specialty Conferences and the California Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Professional Volunteer Roles: Inaugural chapter president California Association for Nurse Practitioners San Diego Central and re-activated the San Diego Chapter of the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses (2007-2009). Health Policy Chair (2012-14) and House of Delegate Member ( 2012, 20116) for the California Association of Nurse Practitioners
