Student Success Stories

There are a number of Azusa Pacific University students that successfully navigated the Fulbright Program process and were named as Fulbright Scholars. We are proud to list the following student success stories:

Elizabeth Anderson accepted a teaching assistantship to Korea in the 2005-06 academic year. While learning the Korean language and culture, she is helping Korean youth to sharpen their English skills in order to broaden their range of opportunity for the future.

Robert Brigham was one of the first students in APU’s history to receive a Fulbright Scholarship. His full grant in 2003-04 allowed him to travel to Romania and develop a formal music program in the orphanages there, and thereby help the children become positive contributors to society.

Daniel Cotoi won his Fulbright Scholarship in the 2004-05 academic year and went to Romania to further his study in the area of philosophy. His research primarily focused on Romanian philosopher, poet, diplomat, and dramatist, Lucian Blagá, and how his work contributed to Romanian culture and philosophy.

In accepting a full grant for the 2005-06 academic year, Jennifer Hume traveled to China to conduct research on how Chinese and American companies define success. She is comparing and contrasting the business approaches of the two countries to better understand international business practices.

Caleb Kim was awarded a Teaching Assistantship in the 2004-05 academic year and traveled to South Korea. His passion for education, coupled with his desire to return to his cultural roots, helped him to connect with his heritage and contribute to Korean society.

In 2003-04, Annette McCabe traveled to Tunisia on a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct a research project examining women’s perceptions of their social roles and religious practices across generations and classes. She was one of APU’s first Fulbright Scholars and one of the first recipients of the special Islamic Civilization Initiative created by Fulbright.
