Graduation

Bachelor’s degrees are conferred twice a month, the 1st and 15th of the month. All degree requirements must be met prior to the posting date.

Graduation is not automatic upon completion of all course work. Students who intend to graduate must complete an Intent to Graduate form and file it with the associate registrar in Professional Enrollment Services at least 60 days prior to commencement.

All academic clearance requirements must be met before academic clearance will be granted to participate in the commencement ceremonies. Financial responsibilities to the university must be satisfied before academic clearance will be granted.

Commencement exercises are held at the end of the fall semester, the end of the spring semester, and the end of the summer session. The university president, by the authority of the trustees and on recommendation of the faculty, awards the degrees. Details regarding the exercises are mailed to prospective participants. In order to participate in the commencement exercises, all the financial obligations to the university must be met.

Participation in Commencement

Students who have completed baccalaureate degree requirements from February through May are eligible to participate in the spring commencement ceremony. Students who have completed baccalaureate degree requirements from June through September are eligible to participate in the summer commencement ceremony. Students who have completed baccalaureate degree requirements from October through January are eligible to participate in the winter commencement ceremony.

In order to participate in the commencement exercises, all financial obligations to the university must be met.

Honors at Commencement

Latin Honors

Qualifying students may graduate with the following honors: summa cum laude, magna cum laude, or cum laude. The minimum GPA requirements for Latin Honors are as follows:

3.90–summa cum laude
3.80–magna cum laude
3.70–cum laude

All grades accepted toward graduation at Azusa Pacific University are included in the calculation of these honors, including correspondence and transfer classes. All grades not accepted toward graduation at Azusa Pacific University (such as remedial classes) will not be included in the calculation.
