Curriculum
Heidelberg’s City Theater employs a full-time professional orchestra, musical staff, and singer ensemble performing in at least eight different symphonic concert programs per year, eight different opera productions, a song recital series, and chamber music series, among other events.
Azusa and Biola students will study with members of this orchestra as well as other professional orchestras and faculty members of schools of music in the area. The Heidelberg Philharmonic, which falls under the Heidelberg City Theater's umbrella, is very prestigious. Employment in this full-time professional orchestra is highly competitive and standards are very high. The orchestra has been consistently rated among the top mid-sized orchestras in Germany. From this great pool of highly qualified musicians, APU will employ tutors who are active in a lively professional musical milieu and who dedicate a large part of their time to teaching as well.
