Fall 2007 Check-out
Checkout time is once again drawing near. The checkout deadline is Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 12 p.m. Please make appropriate plans to meet this deadline. If you are a part of the graduation process, please contact your RA for further instructions. There are two ways to checkout of your housing assignment: verified checkouts and unverified checkouts.
Verified Checkouts (RA Appointments)
To checkout with an RA you must make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance. At the designated appointment time you and your RA will walk through your room/apartment to assess any cleaning and damage charges. You will receive a copy of the Room Condition Inventory (RCI) form and will be aware of any charges assessed. At a later time you will receive an invoice from the Office of Housing Services with the costs of the charges and notification that they were deducted from your housing deposit. The invoice will be sent to your permanent address. You are still responsible for returning your own key.
Unverified Checkouts (Express)
To checkout properly using this checkout method, obtain a "Key Return and Checkout Certification" envelope from the Office of Housing Services. Complete the information on the front of the envelope and put your key in it. Completed Key Return Envelopes can be dropped in the Smith Hall Lounge key return. By choosing this method you understand that you will not be present for the walkthrough and any cleaning and damage charges will be assessed by your RA. At a later time you will receive an invoice from the Office of Housing Services with the costs of the charges and notification that they were deducted from your housing deposit. The invoice will be sent to your permanent address.
Key Return
Every student is personally responsible for turning in his or her own key if not returning for spring. Keys can be dropped off in the Office of Housing Services or dropped in the Smith Hall Lounge key return. All keys must be returned in a “Key Return and Checkout Certification” envelope by 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007. Those who return their key late will be assessed an improper checkout fee of $150 and additional key recore costs.
Important note to Trinity Hall residents who are not returning for spring: Trinity Hall residents need to fill out a Key Return Envelope if they are doing unverified checkout. Even though you do not have a metal key, you may not simply leave. We understand that the envelopes will be empty. Please do not put your ID card in the envelope. If for some reason you do have a metal key, please return it in the envelope by the deadline.
Cleaning
Students leaving are required to clean their own personal living space to prepare for the next resident. If evenryone in the room/apartment is leaving and not returning, everyone is responsible for the cleanliness of the room, unless otherwise noted on the Room Condition Inventory (RCI) form by your RA. Failure to clean will result in an improper checkout fine of $150 for each resident. We anticipate filling all open spaces for spring 2008.
